Order confirmation email sent to customer prior to completing payment through PayPal site
ID: 82  Target Version: TBD

Description:
When a customer places an order and pays for the order with the PayPal payment method, the customer receives the order confirmation email prior to completing the payment steps on the PayPal site. This may lead a customer to believe that they have completed the steps for placing the order although in order to fully complete the order they need to proceed through all of the steps on the PayPal site.

We are reviewing the usability concerns with this process.

Suggested Workaround:
Many sites have added instructional notes within the PayPal payment method description or a link to a separate PayPal instructions HTML page in order to clarify for their customers the steps needed to successfully place a PayPal order.

Any plans on if/when this will be fixed? This causes allot of confusion on both the customer end and our end, and results in allot of wasted time in follow-up phone calls, emails and explanation. Not to mention that a month later we have to deal with people asking where is there stuff that they have an email confirmation for - we look like amateurs and have to waste time coming up with an 'excuse'.

2 years seems like a really long time to be working on a problem. Is it being worked on?

Please fix this, or at least let us know if this is in the works.....

Thanks,
Steve

Does anyone even work at M.onster anymore?
It seems like there is less and less response across the board.

OK, so maybe this Known Paypal problem is'nt considered such a huge issue that should illicit a response (although I definiteley disagree) but there have been alot of people raising very strong, valid complaints recently and M.onster is yet to address those either.

What is going on with these guys? Did everyone get their vacation time back in January and decide to take it at the same time??

Agreed. Personally I believe it has something to do with the NS buyout. Maybe MC staff are not allowed to post here anymore?!

Something is going on. They are doing nothing to address the concerns of their current customers. All we are seeing is todays "newsletter" and other information on new service offerings.

Nothing on the outstanding product issues and current legitimate complaints we have been looking for answers on. Sounds like the NS business strategy is in place...

I just wanted to add that I do not even see them reading these boards any more. Has anyone else seen anything?

How quickly the naive promises of no changes for MC support are being broken. Just as we all predicted.

Hello,

I hear your concern about responses on the forums. In this case and over the weekend, I was pretty much away from the computer for an extended period of time, which is unusual for me. I apologize that there was not an answer to this question.

Concerning the PayPal issue, this is one of our oldest known issues and I don't know what the resolution in the works will look like once it is done.

Many clients have made use of the fact that you can control the order confirmation message and certain areas on the order confirmation email to make it clear that even though the customer may be receiving an email there are certain details that are not yet complete and need to be finished on the PayPal website. The impact from this issue can really be minimized to a very minor problem using these steps.

I hope this helps.

Hey James

You always respond timely. It just seems you are the only one.
