In April we will begin to do a few craft and bead shows. As such, we will need to be able to take our credit card processing "on the road." We're only going to do this a few times a year, however, so we don't really want an "every month" bill.
Any suggestions on how to process credit cards when selling "off site"?

Will you have access to the 'net?

We have a verizon cel phone and use it to gain web access with our laptop.
It works well. If you have further questions, drop me a line.

Hi,
We have the ability to set a customer up as a "seasonal business." Which means we can shut the service down for you for the months your not running. Are you planning on doing craft shows next year as well?

What i do is that i take the manual imprint of the card and their signature, then we use the net to make the charge.

No line, but I suppose we could go wireless.

Most merchant accounts can do this. The problem is the electronic processing part, not the "getting an account" issue.

That's the simplest approach, but we wonder what happens if the card is rejected. They have taken your product, but you don't get their money. How would you handle such a situation?

We just use the virtual terminal on authorize.net. Takes about 5 seconds. most builds that host trade shows are WIFI now so it's very easy.

I can set you up with either a wireless terminal or a virtual terminal with my company. We also offer seasonal business processing. I have lots of merchants using the virtual terminal off a laptop computer. Our rates are good and no monthly charge for months not in service.

I'm looking for the same thing the OP is - can someone contact me offline at jcranfill@triad.rr.com?
Thanks
