Full Version: How Do I Create Drop Down Menus?
MonsterSmallBusiness Forums > MonsterCommerce > How do I?
newbie
I would like to use drop down menus for my teams to make navigation a bit easier.

So the customer clicks on the NCAA tab and a drp down menu shows the catagoris, (schools).

How can I achieve this?
Ive noticed 131 searches on the site meaning that many people used that as a way of finding their team.
It works but Id still like to offer the drop down.

Thanks

Beth, the design dept. can customize a drop down box for you, and it shouldn't cost very much to do. I personally think drop downs are the easiest for navigation and would make your site easier to navigate to the teams. I would have a drop down in the top center that says something like Find Your Team. Your right in that people looking for this type of merchandise are generally trying to find a certain team. I just tried to find a couple of teams and it was difficult with the amount of pages you have. Drop down would increase sales, no doubt about it.

Thank you! I hope they can do it soon, although Im pleased with the progress so far for our site, were on track to start raking in sales, I just hope the navigation isnt hurting us. But I belive it is.

Thank you for the input, PS I hope its not to expensive... rolleyes.gif

You can do this yourself, too, with the right software. Fireworks is the biggie here, but I have a cheap program called Ulead Menu Applet that can generate the code. The tabs are part of a background image and the drop down menu is superimposed on top of it.

The program is cheap, under $30, and can be obtained at www.ulead.com

I am not using drop down menus because I have found that the page load time is increased quite a bit. I'd rather have a less slick sight that is fast.

Yes thats something to consider.
Maybe Ill just see how the sales pick up this week. We are slowly building traffic but not converting the way our old site did. This is a MAJOR concern of course.

Anyone want to take a look and give advice? Its welcomed.

Newbie,

I just PM'd you a mistake I found on your site regarding your .html catalog.

Just an FYI... Make sure you do not run your .html catalog until your site is residing on your domain. If you run it on the IP, Google will spider and index your IP and when users try to check out they will get a security error. I believe this is why you are not seeing the conversions you are used to...

Newbie, I advised an SEO to re-run for you today... we'll get you corrected today.

Jack also just notified me that the newest version of the .html catalog builder uses only relative links so even if you run it on your IP you will be ok.

So thats not the conversion problem? I really wonder whats wrong.
I installed a site meter today so I can try and see trends.

Is there a way t make the thumbnails I tiny bit larger?

Newbie,

JD re-ran your catalog for you... so the link is now pointing to the domain and not the IP. cool.gif
