Why even bother having a search button for this forum. I tried to do a search on "Google Site Map" and I get a message stating "One or more of my search terms was 4 letters or less."

Give me a break...... just about every term used on the internet is 4 LETTERS OR LESS!!

I agree wholeheartedly. I've run into this frustrating problem over and over again. I can see limiting the search to at least THREE letters, meaning two or less will error, but words like "map" or "ssl" will work fine.

Additionally, the "flood control" is pretty annoying, too. I belong to several boards that are at least 10 times more active than this board, and they don't waste my time with a 10 second delay when I am running a few searches.

Maybe monstersmile.gif needs to upgrade/expand the servers that the forum runs on? Or is it the software? It seems to me that the best forums are usually vBulletin forums. Either way, they should deal with this.

Sheesh! On top of that, I tried to add an addendum to my post, and the dang flood control kicked in! aargh.

Anyway, I was going to add that the three letter or below should, at the very least, only apply to a single word query...whereas "map" may error out, but "Google Site Map" would be allowed. I mean come ON guys!

I've had to resort to searching the forum using Google in order to find some of the three word queries I was looking for...man oh man...

So it just wasn't me that had this issue?

Agree either it is the worst or it needs to have some directions!

I have run into this when searching for MSN, AOL, HTM . When it was set at 3 letter words it still pooped out. Now it is set to 4. There is a lot of great information on this forum but getting to it is a bear. I finally got the search to work by using google+site+map which apparently is more than 4 letters!! Whatever works!!

I seem to remember Captain saying that he was going to look into a replacement for the search function that actually works .. but that was months ago, and I don't think that anything has changed. Any status on this would be appreciated.

I share your frustation. If you have the google toolbar installed, try its "search site" function. I use google to search the forum and it usually works.

Excellent idea Robert!

Yeah Thanks Robert. I do have the google toolbar installed. I will try it.

I am pretty sure we were looking at the Google Mini to do this.
InvisionBoard doesn't have an upgraded search functionality.
I will check with the Captain and find out more.

If monstersmile.gif could develop their own boards and allow them to be hosted on our own sites, there would be money in it for you. Right now, it's difficult.

Interesting that the Google toolbar searches and finds information from this forums... thus making it easy for "anybody" to see what monstersmile.gif Merchants talk about and share about our businesses....mmmm.... Thanx Google.

i wander how the monstersmile.gif Forum Chiefs feel about that... i will do further breach homework... unless I am mistaken.....

Thats why I suggested this complete forum should be a private MC only thing a few weeks ago.

Hey Danilyn,

Yes, I know what you mean. I have found a better way, by eithering using the Google toolbar (type in the keywords, and use the 'current site' option) Or, if you don't have that toolbar, than simply go to Google, Yahoo etc, and type this in:

site:forums.monstersmallbusiness.com (keywords go here)

Also, about the indexed forum pages: That's why I changed my user name and don't link to my site in the sig. ;)

Happy Festivus!

GOT SOME PRobs while searching in the SEARCH section..but now it's fine. I think the search engine has difficulties reading the keywords. But luckily, succeeded to find wot I needed!!
