I have read somewhere in the array of documentation that there is a switch that can be flipped to prevent cloned product records from showing up in Search Results more than once. But, I'm powerless to find where I read it, or to find the switch in the Admin Panel. Anybody?

If there is no such capability, then I'm going to have to seriously reconsider the quality of my....vitamins. beer.gif

Do you mean that you have the exact same product over and over again?

Yes. We've done that in line with the MC documentation's recommendations, and in order to be able to manage the product list sort ordering when an item needs to appear in more than one category.

Oh, okay. NOW I understand!

I never did that with mine - I just live with the sort order being off in some of the categories.

I have no idea how you would eliminate duplicates in the search results.

I hope someone else can help you.

You don't need multiple products to have them listed in multiple categories. There was a time when you had to, but that was fixed with 4.0. You can select multiple categories for your product.

And I don't think you can filter out duplicate products because they are each separate items as far as the software is concerned.

I know I don't need multiple products for multiple categories. I need to use the sort order, though. With a single product record, there can only be one sort order- which is problematic for a product's appearance in multiple categories. If the sort order was associated with the category (an excellent product enhancement) rather than the product record, we could use the multi-category structure just fine. It would, in fact, be much easier, and far more database-friendly.

I'm going to have to burn some night oil to find out where I read that you could prevent dupes in search results. I recall noting that it indicated it used the product Name for duplicate detection.

Thanks,
