Hello All,
I am not sure if this is the right section to ask this in, but here we go.

I think iam about to break my laptop in half soon over my email program. I am using Thunderbird to try and recieve my email from my ecommerce site provider. I can recieve the email but I am not able to send out. I think this means there is a problem with how i have set up my SMTP server.

The funny thing is I had it working last week and then yesterday it stoped. I have two different ISPs one at work and one at home.

The error message i am getting says "The mail server responded: not local host (the email address), not a gateway. Please verify that your email address is correct in your Mail pref and try again."

Any ideas or thoughts are much appreciated.

Thanks again, Iam going to go bang my head into the wall for a bit
Alex

I think I know the answer.

Around here (my area), a lot of people use a cable service named charter. Well, when connected to their internet, you have to use their outgoing smtp server (mail.chartermi.net) instead of the one for your own mail system. That may be why it worked in one place and not the other.

Hope that helps

I think that's your problem, you'll need to use your ISPs outgoing mail host. I was told that this is being done by the ISPs to control spam.
