I would like my customers to receive a 3% discount when they pay with Paypal. I have attempted to use the "cost modifier" in the online payment section of the cart admin to allow for the 3% discount by entering a negative figure, (-.0300) but even though the cart will reflect the 3% discount information next to the Paypal payment option, it will not actually apply the discount.. there is no change in the total, even following it through to Paypal. I've tested it several times to no avail. I have since simply created a discount code, "paypal" for those who wish to pay using that service, but it requires them to go back a screen and enter the code. As simple as that is, some get confused and others just abuse the discount code by entering it and then paying using a different payment option which is causing a problem.
The instructions indicated such a discount was possible using the cost modifier, but I just can't get it to apply the discount sad.gif
I am really hoping someone who is experienced with the workings of the cart, can perhaps tell me if I'm doing something wrong, forgetting a setting of some sort or ????.

I did call, and was simply told that I should use a dollar amount and see if that works. He didn't seem interested in the fact that the instructions indicate a percentage is to be used and besides, using a dollar amount would not work out well if the order is small.
The rep didn't address my question about the fact that regardless of whether or not a dollar amount or percentage is used, the total still doesn't adjust prior to transferring to Paypal. Normally the reps are super helpful, but maybe he just hadn't dealt with that before, though surely someone there has to know. It's a little frustrating. I just thought that others out there may have tried to implement the same function as I and perhaps had a tip for me. smile.gif

Yeah, I've had a trouble request in for 7 days now. Maybe they're just getting overwhelmed with beta calls? Generally issues are handled quickly and they've very friendly/helpful. You might want to either put in a trouble request or try calling back later. It might be helpful also if you mention the page number in the manual to the tech.

whirlwindbeads and ultimate,

please contact andy at 800.353.6582.

I have notified him of your recent experience.

He is the director of tech support and is anxious to work out your issues and find out why you have received less than superior support.

4.0 Beta is not an excuse for less than fanatical support. smile.gif

I was able to contact Andy and get this resolved. I guess in 3.0 you can't select a Gift Certificate as a free item in the shopping cart event. Well, you can but it won't generate a code for the GC. I was told this would be resolved in 4.0.

Thanks again Captain...
