In Urchin 5 we were able to see who has spidered our websites by hits and bytes. I can't find any related information in Urchin 6. monstersmile.gif tech said it's not there.

Is it no longer relevant and that is why it was removed? Any insight is appreciated.

Hey Plohish...
Still very relevant.

"It is no longer relevant?" who made that business decision for me? I would love to see a MC response as to why it is not relevant for me to know the frequency and depth of robots exploration of my site. Is this something that absolutely cannot be provided with urchin 6 or it due to the method of deployment used by MC.

I am loving what I am getting with U6 but how come there is a loss with every new feature MC implements. Its like eating "mostly seedless" grapes. Very enjoyable till you bite down on the bitter part.

Can someone from monstersmile.gif reply?

Perhaps they are too busy reading articles elsewhere on the web that will be useful for us. It seems like 1/3 of the threads in the forums are not initiated by MC staff. Don't get me wrong, much of what they have offered is great information, but when there is no response to forum questions it can leave a customer feeling like their issues are not important, because, hey, they aren't apparently, when compared with other reading.

Slows sales makes me grumpy. whip.gif

We're (and by "we" I mean our CTO) currently talking to Urchin about the functionality of goals in U6 because of responses like this from our customers. Currently, the only way to create goals is manually, and as you might imagine, it takes a tremendous amount of time to do this, so we're requesting that Urchin provide an automated service for this.

I'll keep all of you posted on this as it develops.

We're keeping a running list of goals that would be beneficial for our customers, so please, list what goals you'd like to see inlcuded in your U6 tracking abilities here and I'll forward them on.

Wordman, I apologize for taking four days to answer this thread, but I wanted to make sure that the information I posted would be correct.

Dear Clint,

Thanks for the great info. However I do not believe that you have responded to the original question which is:

Urchin 6 and robots.
MonsterForumMod
From what I understand from the questions I've asked and had answered, U6 does track this; the problem is then configuring your U6 to show this information. That's what I'm being told about this configuration tab business.

I'll check when I get in tomorrow, but I'm about 95% sure this is the case.

If that is the case, then I'll send on the request that we add this in as a config tab and also alert Urchin that we need this information in the automated config we're asking them to work out for us.

Clint,

Thanks for the response. Not quite sure what you meant by the goals needing to be configured manually, since everything we do building our site and cutomizing our linking URLs to feed tracking info to U6 is manual, I assume it is a irritatingly complex technical issue that takes longer to explain than to solve. (I hate those). Thanks for the information, I appreciate you keeping on it. U6 is too good of an addition to run it limping in any way. The ROI feature and goal tracking will help so much with our e-business development.

The danger of giving us customers what we want is that we get excited and want more, more, more! The wealth of info in U6 has even taken my eyes off the streamlined checkout issue for a moment. (just a little)

While we are at it, I recall a discussion that MC was keeping our stats for a limited amount of time. Does the same hold true for U6? if so how long was that? The reporting from U6 is sweet and I can see real value being able to do a, This year month to date -vs- last year month to date comparison. Need at least 13 mos of stats for that.

Hey Wordman-

It's hard for me to speak on this stuff sometimes because a lot of the time I'm relaying information from somebody else, and don't really know first hand what it is I'm trying to explain, but let me give this another shot-

The way I understood it, U6 tracks everything that U5 did, but MC end users do not have access to the config tab which allows you to set goals. MC has set up two goals in U6 for our end users- a checkout goal and a newsletter goal. The problem is goals have to be set manually by MC for the users because of the lack of access to the config tab. MC doesn't like the idea of going in and setting up ten thousand goals for people, so we asked Urchin to address this problem and either fix the config tab or automate goals. We're waiting on their reply.

As to the streamlined checkout, you won't have to avert your eyes much further happy.gif . I keep hearing "middle/ end of August" around here.

Not sure about the stats thing. I'll check into that for you.

Any update on this issue?

I'm trying to debug an issue with Yahoo and I really need this info!!! I need to know how often Yahoo is spidering my site and which pages it is hitting.

My URchin 5 is still up and running as well as Urchin 6. If I want some of the old information (and spiders was one of my fav's) I go back there and take a look

Thanks for the tip Dani! That helps a lot!

Although I still wish I could see which pages are being spidered and which aren't. As far as I know there is no way to get that info from Urchin 5 - please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Urchin 5 stopped collecting data after we have switched to Urchin 6. According to monstersmile.gif, both versions can't run simulteneously.

Due to the fact that robot activity is important for us we will switch one of our sites backt Urchin 5.
danilyn22
I am running both Urchin 5 and Urchin 6. Doesn;t seem to be a problem and everytthing looks correct.
