Full Version: Custom Shipping
MonsterSmallBusiness Forums > MonsterCommerce > How do I?

We will be shipping to the US and Canada only. We will be using USPS Priority mail and USPS Global Priority Mail (these are light packages and USPS is cheaper).

For the U.S. we will to charge a flat rate of $4 for shipments of under 100 and have free shipping for orders of $100 or more.

For Canada, we will be charging $8 for order under $150 and free shipping thereafter.

I know I need to do this with two Custom shipping options, but there seems to be no way to apply the rule "use option 1 for US" and "use option 2 for Canada."

Custom shipping seems to let you set rules only for price or weight.

Any ideas?

robert,

Couldn't you create the custom shipping name to US Shipping an CA Shipping, that way they will be able to pick the appropriate shipping??

robert
You would think so, wouldn't you. We have had people living on the East Coast (we're in California) select "store pickup" because it is free.

Yeah that is a flaw with monstersmile.gif's custom shipping method , there is no way to exclude like you can with real time shipping which is really annoying, because when you have right side cart all of your shipping option list all the way down and it looks really sloppy. happy.gif

How about something like offiering 2 shipping options (US Shipping, CA Shipping) and in the second option, specifying to exclude the state of California? That way, users from, say Michigan, would not select that option anyway and if someone in California tried to select it, they would need to select a different option.

Just a thought.

you can exclude in real-time shipping but not custom shipping. I wish we had the ability to exclude in custom shipping.

AH...I see. Well, now that kind of figures huh? biggrin.gif Thought that I had an easy solution there....oh well, the search continues....

All we really need is an option to have geography-based custom shipping rules. At this time we are restricted to rules based on weight and price.

I am sure once we find a much better solution to integrate things will change.

There are a few things we have to look into so just hang in there smile.gif
