In case I'm not the only one who is using both Live Person and Urchin 6, I thought I should pass this along.

When monitoring the site, if a person completes a transaction, not only will Urchin log the customer's transactions, but it will also log a duplicate transaction from your location too! So, according to Urchin, your sales are double what they actually are.

The only way to get accurate results over time, would be to export your statistics to Excel, and then manually delete the duplicate order numbers.

Yes, this is annoying.... but Urchin 6 is still worth it.

It would be nice if Urchin would make it to where you could manually delete transactions from within your account logs.

That is really odd... we use the same combo for MonsterCommerce.com and don't have that problem with tracking.

Could it be that it's because you have the page viewer tab selected in LivePerson (where you see the physical page they are on)? Perhaps that's what you mean by monitoring the site. Then I could imagine that may happen...

Andy:

Yes, this is exactly what is happening. Except, you don't have to be viewing that particular person in the checkout process for it to happen. I only noticed it because I leave Live Person running to view people's habits while I'm working.

With one customer, I did actually view the checkout "success page." With the other customer, I was viewing someone else at the time. So apparently, you don't actually have to view the success page for it to happen.

Surely I'm not the first person to notice this. I wonder if there is anything that can be done to prevent this... perhaps some sort of IP filter preventing particular IP addresses from registering transactions??

Regardless.... Urchin 6 is wonderful. It takes a lot of guesswork out.

Is Urchin 6 already configured to track ecommerce sales from our sites? I just had it turned on and the documention is confusing me happy.gif In other words if they go through the complete check out process and purchase will Urchin 6 track this in dollars?

Thanks,
Barbiro
Andy, can you please activate mine? I called tech support, but I don't want to be placed on hold a while. I'll try Urchin 6 for the free period and see if I find handy what it reports. happy.gif
