Full Version: Dowloading Files From The File Manager
MonsterSmallBusiness Forums > MonsterCommerce > How do I?

Ever since the recent update, I have not been able to download files from the file manager by clicking on the download icon. I get an error message when I try to do so, something to the effect that the site cannot be found.

Had the procedure changed since the recent update?

A related question...Anyone know of a quick way to download entire folders of product images from our sites?

I've been downloading, too.

I'm sorry. I don't know how to download folders.

Try changing the file manager path to http instead of https and see if that solves it. Seems like I ran into this in the past and that was the solution.

That's on the requested feature list ... sigh ... I change my html pages all the time and would love to download them and do a link check. I have over 400 html pages. No way am I going to download them one at a time.

I am still new to MC, but thought you may want to know that you can do this in a round about way if you use Firefox.

1. Install an extension to Firefox that allows downloading of all links on a page. I use Down Them All which I think can be found on the Firefox extensions page.

2. Go to the folder you want to get all of the files or images from and activate Down Them All.

3. Select your destination folder, masking of file types, etc. and let it rip.

Disclaimer: I have only tested this so far on a button theme I wanted to get all of the original files for so I can edit the theme and it worked flawlessly. I assume it will work anywhere in the File Manager since they give links and that is what Down Them All keys in on.

Best of all it's free....

Good find with the Firefox download tool!

Someone from our tech support team had brought that up a couple weeks ago as an option for downloading mass files. Whereas there are no reasons not to use it, there are some suggestions to watch out for.

Downloading files from the site, even through the file manager using a download helper like this uses bandwidth. If you are downloading a massive amount of files from one folder, especially during peak times, it may cause performance issues. I suggest same as mueller that you try it a few times on small folders first to get used to it, and have someone else place an order from a different computer at the same time to see what sort of problems it may cause.

Have fun!
