Full Version: Avatar Question
MonsterSmallBusiness Forums > MonsterCommerce > How do I?
AnnieGee
In view of all the issues going on the forum lately, I feel dumb even asking such a basic question, but "How do I upload an avatar?"

I want to upload my own image. The direction in MY CONTROLS is to "Enter a URL to an online avatar image". I don't understand what URL this would be. And I take it our monstersmile.gif FTP isn't the place.

Now I'm going to go on to something even more complex like trying to figure out how to make my headers bold.

Hi Ann!

You have to upload the avatar to your site and then link to it from here.

For example, if you put the image in your images folder, your link would look something like this:

http://www/yourdomain.com/images/myavatar.gif

I hope that helps.

(Ask any basic questions you want. It's nice to have a distraction from the "bad" stuff.)

Actually your MonsterCommerce File Manager is exactly what that URL field could be asking for. You can very easily add your own avatar by uploading an image to your File Manager, and then putting the URL into that field in the Forum controls.

You can also reference any image anywhere else. However, you pretty much should have permission of the site that you are linking from, as you are using their bandwidth and they may disagree with 'hotlinking' like that. Actually I think that reminds me that my avatar is currently hotlinked. Oops. Gotta fix that.

There may be an area underneath the URL field labled "Upload a new image from your computer" but I think it is possible that this is only available for internal staff at this time.

Yahoo! It worked. Thanks bookmark & arcojedi!!

I've spent the better part of the last three months constructing my website (which is almost ready to go), designing layout, creating images, etc., but felt reduced to an idiot trying to figure out how to upload one itty bitty little image.

Your help is most appreciated.
