I am in the process of doing a major redesign of my site. I have been using the top of page cart.

Are the pros and cons about equal on the top of page and side column carts or is one definitely better at helping close the sale?

Just curious what others experieces have been.

Thanks

I don't have experience (just about to launch my first store), but I think the side cart works better. This way the customer sees what's in there - the actual product names - versus just the number of items in the cart.

Hey MayanTraditions.

My personal pick (not just cuz Amaz**n says so) is right side.

I was visiting a Monks*er site the other day, and (after years as a webby) couldn't figure out where the heck the cart was...it was on the left. Checkout was on the left and dupped up top. I swear I was sitting confused.

Imagine buying a car and learning that the pedals were reversed...it would take a while to get used to the difference. With conversion, most dont have the luxury of a "while" (unless that while is a millisecond).

I personally like the look of carts at top/right, but wouldn't do it myself.

Just my 2 cents--right, wrong, or indifferent--thats my story and Im stickin' to it!

Hey Mayan...
It's worth a few bucks to buy this book:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=books&n=507846

...if the link doesnt work, it's "The Big Red Fez" by Seth Godin---"How to make any web site better"
It's about $9 and worth about a gazillion in simple science.

While you're at it, MartiniGuy, do you recommend any other seo books worth buying? I only like to buy at Amazingcom if I get the free shipping for over $25 order?
simple mind and a sucker for free shipping...........

Yup...it's an oldie but a goodie:

Anything by Shari Thurow is normally a good SEO read. Dont expect miracles--it's pretty basic stuff, but a good reference book to have around.
