Full Version: Need Ideas?!?
MonsterSmallBusiness Forums > MonsterCommerce > How do I?

I want to have a giveaway when we launch our site next month, but want users to sign up before receiving the free gift, which is a fiction novel in an ebook format.

Is there a way MC can do this out of the box? Any ideas?

I am not the best on modifying the MC cart the way other people do, but maybe some other customers know....

If there is a way to set a price for an item at $0.00, then make them fill out the checkout pages? Seems a bit complex but that could work.

Also would not be too hard to do some custom html/asp to handle this.

I could easily see a pop up window that would have you sign up for the item, then the next button (being the submit) would take them to a download link which could be automatic anyhow.

Let's see how the thread develops and I am sure if you need any help on getting something like the pop up window done I can help you out.

Adminguy is right. You could make the product $0.00. Then, in checkout, if you require an email address and password, they are essentially signed up.

In fact, I cannot think of another way to really accomplish this off the top of my head without doing something more fancy... to both accomplish automatically placing the customer in the database and providing them the product automatically as well.

Hey lhunter-
How many of these signups are you thinking you will get?
If it is going to be 15-25 per day, i would recommend doing it manually...essentially telling them to please signup (which they can do in the V4.0 without buying anything) and then email the e-book to them when you see they have signed up.

If you expect to get more than 25 per day, i would talk to John Larson in our custom programming department and have something programmed to handle this. If you are getting more than 25 per day, you probably won't mind paying a bit extra for this feature as it would save you time and money in the long run.
