Depends on what you sell. These boards are filled with info.
Check out the Marketing and Search Engine Optimization sections. bigsmile.gif

Most storefront owners probably would not want to disclose their traffic statistics. We have competitors, including friendly competitors, who also have monstersmile.gif stores. No reason to give up info like that that can only hurt you!

It really does depend on what you sell. If you sell something that gets used and then needs to be replenished (like beads and other jewelry components, for example), you get a lot of repeat traffic. If you sell something that lasts a lifetime or something unique or particular, repeat traffic will be lower.

I have to agree with Robert on his statement, but I can give you a few suggestions which I apply to myself and have helped me out tremendously:

1) Tweak your site
2) Tweak it some more
3) Add fresh content on an almost daily basis
4) Monitor your SERP's and adjust your keywords accordingly
5) Keep tweaking
6) Don't obsess with the G*ogle toolbar and PR ranking (it'll drive you nutz).
7) Forget about your competition and just try to make your site the best that it can possibly be.
8) If at all possible in running a business, have fun with your site and customer interaction. I do.

Good luck happy.gif

Two of the quickest ways to get some traffic and help your search engine ranking are link exchanges and one way links.

For link exchanges, find sites that are along your topic but not your direct competitor. Don't link with a site for the sake of linking, it should have something in common.

For one way links, write an article that includes a byline and a link back to your site and then submit it to free article directories. Some of the ones I use are:

www.goarticles.com
www.reprintarticles.com
www.xongoo.com

And there are a ton more if you do a search on Google and/or Yahoo. More links you have pointing to your site the better you will rank ;)

Good Luck!

I know its hard to guage where you're at and how you are doing and you just want to know where you stand. I receive an average of 700-800 unique visitors a day. I used to use Google AdWords and Overture, but I lost my shirt. I quit using them and never saw a drop in traffic. Good luck!

I have currently been using monstersmile.gif for 2 1/2 months now and am very satisfied with my website. I have a major decision to make though as the website is expensive to invest in monthly, especially since I have not seen one sale from it yet. Curious of any suggestions, ie. hang on and wait, etc. I am currently out of funds to invest in any further search engine options. Appreciate any input.

casual,

Too soon to quit, be sure to do as much of the seo type marketing stuff that you can do on your own (read the marketing forums) that does not cost $$ over the next month(s), if at all possible, kill some of the websites expenses for a while. That order is just around the bend, I don't know your site, but my site needs more TIME to pass than money at the moment. From what I can tell, these search engines don't move to fast.

Thanks so much for the input, Rick
