How about getting every MC employee to have their sig in the forums? I know there have been a number of times when I have wondered if I was seeing a new person from outside or inside the comapny, and context is the only way I know. With everyone adding their comments now (well, not EVERYONE, but you know smile.gif ) -- it would add authenticity and give people visiting a good impression that you as a corporate entity participate.

You do, for sure -- just make yourselves more visible. smile.gif

Well, some staff are more active than others on the forums and I personally don't think the staff should be targets for users on this board either. But if you're really curious and must know who the staff are you can click on this link:

For future reference, the 'moderating team' link is on the bottom of the forum index page.

Personally, I have certain paranoia about having my real name mentioned online. I think this is the reason we all have aliases. I think its safe to assume much of the staff may feel the same way.

I just sent a company-wide email asking everyone if they would mind including their signature line in the forum...

Some are worried the forum will turn into an individual Q&A... where clients pose business related questions and enquries to the forum.... that are not forum-wide related.

What are your opinions on this? I don't mind having my identity known.... because I don't deal with clients on a day to day basis. Designers and sales people are worried that the forum will be bogged down with content unrelated to the masses... thus eliminating the "community" aspect of the forum.

Share your thoughts of the pro's and cons.

Maybe you could add something like MCT- (for monstersmile.gif Commerce Tech Support) behind their forum names. You could us this for any position in your co. Then we would know the person is from the co. and what position they hold.

You could put a legend on the home page for people to go by.

MCWD- MC Web Design
MCS- MC Sales
and so on.

Boy, I started a topic I didn't know I started. smile.gif

So, why don't you police a little if it gets OT? Put the forums in their place. And if someone doesn't want to post a name, at LEAST put something like this:

------------------------------
Hootie
MonsterCommerce Tech Support
techsupport@monstercommerce.com
1-800-MCROCKS

No personal info (short of your username) and contact goes through the proper channels. There will be abusers, but you can't avoid them on a forum -- just "not gonna happen." smile.gif And it will still say MCStaff off to the left, so people know you are staff if they know to look there (that took me a while.) smile.gif

I mean, why hide your identity to the point that no one knows you are working for the store? I do understand not wanting it to be a personal message field, or getting things off topic. Understandable. But the more ways you give people to see how great your customer service is, the more ways you gain customers.

My two cents. smile.gif

EBenson,

I agree with your comments. We discussed it this morning at our company wide meeting...

Members of the MC team will post their position and their identity will be optional.
